The Staghound Armoured Car was the British/Commonwealth name for the T17E Armoured Car, an American made heavy armoured car built by Chevrolet. The Staghound Armoured Car was a four-wheel drive heavy armoured car outfitted with a tank turret. The first version the Staghound, the Staghound Mk I, was armed with a 76 mm M6 gun. The next version, the Mk II, was armed with a 3-inch howitzer. The Staghound Mk III adopted the turret and gun (QF 6-pounder) from the Crusader Mk III tank and came equipped with a 7.92 mm Besa machine gun.
The STL files for the Staghound Mk III Heavy Armoured Cars were downloaded from MarkeBot’s Thingiverse; the Staghound STL files were created by m_bergman. I used a Creality Ender Pro 3 to print these models.
I 3D printed three Staghound Mk III Heavy Armoured Cars and painted these models with the markings of the Canadian 18th Armoured Car Regiment (12th Manitoba Dragoons). The Manitoba Dragoons were a corps level troop attached to the II Canadian Corp and one of two armoured car regiments in the Canadian Army during the war. The other armoured car regiment was the 1st Armoured Car Regiment (Royal Canadian Dragoons) attached to the I Canadian Corps.
The images below are found in the Canadian Armour II section of Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site.
Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
