Armageddon Ork Hunters (Astra Militarum): Part 3

Armageddon Ork Hunters are elite Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) units that specialize in jungle and guerrilla warfare. Ork Hunter regiments were formed in the wake of the Second Armageddon War, to deal with the Ork populations in the equatorial jungle regions of the planet. The Ork Hunters are a brutal and wild lot, adopting many of the customs and manners of the Orks they hunt; they are notorious for using captured Ork weapons, preferring the sheer noise and devastating firepower caused by the Ork guns.

I finished ‘kit bashing’ three more Armageddon Ork Hunters, using components from the Catachan Jungle Fighters and Ork Boyz plastic kits.  As with the previous batch of Ork Hunters (please see part 2 for more details), I painted a ‘tiger stripe’ jungle camouflage pattern on the Ork Hunters’ combat fatigues and green warpaint on their flesh.

Warhammer 40K Ork Boyz: Part 4

“No, no, no!!! You Boyz got it WRONG.  It’s pull da pin and THROW da other part.  NOT pull da pin and HOLD ONTO da other part!!!”

I finished painting another group of Ork Boyz for the Armageddon Ork Hunters section of the Old Guard, an ‘old school’ Imperial Guard (Astra Militarum) fan site.  This group of Orks includes a Nob and three Boyz.  These miniatures were painted in a similar style as the previous group of Ork Boyz, with Celtic inspired blue warpaint applied to these miniatures (please see part 3 for more details).

I finished painting/converting four more Armageddon Ork Hunters, using components from the Catachan Jungle Fighters and Ork Boyz sprues (please see part 1 for more details).  The green warpaint, which adorns the skin of the Ork Hunters, symbolizes the descent of the Ork Hunters into ‘Ork-ness’.  That is, through the process of stalking and killing Orks, the Ork Hunters start to lose their humanity, becoming more like the Orks they hunt.
