Armageddon
Ork Hunters are elite Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) units that specialize in
jungle and guerrilla warfare. Ork Hunter regiments were formed in the wake of
the Second Armageddon War, to deal with the Ork populations in the equatorial
jungle regions of the planet. The Ork Hunters are a brutal and wild lot,
adopting many of the customs and manners of the Orks they hunt; they are notorious
for using captured Ork weapons, preferring the sheer noise and devastating
firepower caused by the Ork guns.

The
3 Ork Hunters on the left are miniatures I recently completed (February 2020); the
2 Ork Hunters on the right are miniatures I built/painted back in the summer of
2018.

I
created an Armageddon Ork Hunters section for the Old Guard; a modest Warhammer
40K fan site dedicated to the ‘Old School’ Imperial Guard miniature range. Five Ork Hunters have been added to the site
(more are currently being painted and will be added soon). The Armageddon Ork
Hunters were built using the Catachan Jungle Fighter’s set, with components (weapons,
shoulder pads, etc.) added from the Ork Boyz set. A Vietnam War era ‘tiger stripe’ camouflage
pattern was applied to the combat fatigues worn by the Ork Hunters.
