Warhammer 40,000 Madras Tigers: Part 1

Wargames Atlantic Madras Tigers (Les Grognards)

Madras Tigers hail from the planet of Madras Prime; an Imperial Fortress World renown for producing fierce and loyal soldiers. The Madras Tigers regiments are all-volunteer fighting forces drawn from the Planetary Defense Forces (PDF). It is a prestigious honour for the men and women of Madras Prime to serve the God Emperor in the Imperial Guard. Every year when new Imperial Guard regiments are raised, volunteers for the Madras Tigers outnumber the available slots by a ratio of at least three-to-one (some years this ratio is as high as five-to-one). Thus, only best PDF soldiers make the cut for the Madras Tigers regiments.

Inspired by the British Indian Army Regiments, I designed the Madras Tigers using components from three different Wargames Atlantic ranges: the Les Grognard infantry, the Les Grognard heavy weapons and the Afghan Warriors sets.  The Les Grognard infantry set was the primary set I used to build these models; the Afghan Warrior set was used for the heads, while the vox-caster (radio) and medical kit were from the heavy weapons set.  I painted the uniforms in the common colours of the British Army during the Napoleonic Wars (red great coats, white webbing, and blue pants).  The name, Madras Tigers, was inspired by the historical Madras Regiment; the oldest infantry regiment in the Indian Army, established in the 1750s.

Wargames Atlantic’s Les Grognard set allows you to build a total of 24 Les Grognard soldiers.  Eight identical soldier sprues (each allowing you to build three miniatures) and four optional head sprues are included in this set.

Warhammer 40,000 Xenos Lizardmen: Part 1

Wargames Atlantic Lizardmen

The galaxy is filled with hostile alien species.  While Orks, Necrons, Tyranids, Eldar and Tau are the best known Xenos threats, they are, but a small fraction of the different alien species the Imperium of Man battles against for its survival.

Wargames Atlantic produces a diverse range of 28mm hard plastic miniatures, which includes a set of Lizardmen miniatures.  The box set includes eight identical sprues, with each sprue allowing you to build three figures (24 figures in total).  The sprues contain options for building the lizardmen from different time periods, by including swords/spears, flintlock muskets and Kalashnikov style assault rifles.  There are eleven unique head sculpts; two of the heads are equipped with World War 1 era gas masks.

When building these miniatures, I did some ‘kit bashing’ with extra components from two Wargames Atlantic sets I previously built: the Einherjar (Space Dwarves/Squats) and the Les Grognards.  Specifically, to give these miniatures a 40K look, I added the various sci-fi weapons from these kits to the lizardmen.
