Warhammer 40,000 Squats (Winter Camo): Part 1

Wargames Atlantic Einherjar (Warhammer 40K Squats)

Squats, classified as Homo Sapiens Rotundus, are the descendants of early human settlers to mineral-rich high gravity worlds around the galactic core. Due to the conditions of these worlds, the Squats, over millennia, evolved into a short, stocky, and hardy species of Abhumans, standing on average 1.4 meters tall. Few Squats remain in the galaxy today, as their worlds were destroyed by an unnamed Tyranid fleet.

I recently purchased a box set of Wargames Atlantic Death Fields Einherjar (Space Dwarves); the set consists of six identical sprues, which allows you to build a total of 24 miniatures.  Multiple head and weapon options are available, allowing for multiple ways of customizing the models.

I am planning to use the Einherjar miniatures to represent Warhammer 40K Squats, one of the original playable tabletop armies in the early days of Warhammer 40K.  I have decided to build and paint these miniatures in groups of six and have selected four different camouflage patterns for each group: winter, woodland, desert, and urban.

The first group of Squats I built and painted are in the winter camouflage pattern.  There are 13 head options provided on each sprue; I selected the heads most reminiscent of the original Rogue-Trader era (late 1980s) Imperial Guardsmen.  I took advantage of the variety of weapon options available; except for the two Squats armed with shotguns, I equipped the remaining miniatures with unique weapons (flamer, plasma gun, grenade launch and carbine).
