The development of the ZiS-30 came about by the Red Army’s desperate need for armoured fighting vehicles, in particular tank destroyers, during the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. The rapid development of an improvised tank destroyer was needed to deal with the German threat. As a stop gap measure, the ZiS-30 was designed by mating two existing pieces of equipment: The 57 mm anti-tank gun and the Komsomolets T-20 armoured tractor.
The STL files for the ZiS-30 Light Self-Propelled Gun were downloaded from MarkeBot’s Thingiverse and the ZiS-30 was created by ChillyT. I used a Creality Ender Pro 3 to print this model.
I 3D printed the components to build a single ZiS-30 Light Self-Propelled Gun and used Vallejo Military Green as the primary colour for this model. I applied Soviet star decals to the sides of the ZiS-30.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
