1/72 scale (20 mm) M7 Priest: 23rd Field Regiment (SP), Royal Canadian Artillery

Technical Data Card M7 Priest

The 105 mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M7 was an American made self-propelled gun built on the modified chassis of the M3 Lee medium tank.  Due to the self-propelled gun’s pulpit-like machine gun ring, the M7 was named the ‘Priest’ by the British and Commonwealth militaries.  The M7 Priest proved to be a reliable design and some 3,489 M7 Priests were produced between 1942 to 1945.

The STL files for the M7 Priest Self-Propelled Gun were downloaded from MarkeBot’s Thingiverse and designed by Foolyo89.  I used a Creality Ender Pro 3 to print these models.

I 3D printed the M7 Priest and added components from The Plastic Soldier Company’s British/Commonwealth Ordnance QF 25-Pounder kit to represent the M7 Priest’s crew.  I painted the M7 Priest with the markings of the Royal Canadian Artillery’s 23rd Field Regiment (SP).  The 23rd Field Regiment was a self-propelled gun regiment and was part of the Divisional Artillery for the 4th Canadian Armoured Division during the Second World War.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 Scale WW2 Model Site

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures.  It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
