The BA-64 (Bronirovaniy Avtomobil, translating to 'armoured car' in Russian) was the standard Soviet light armoured car during the Second World War. The BA-64 was built on the chassis of the GAZ-64 (a Soviet 4x4 vehicle similar to the American Jeep) and the vehicle’s hull was based on the captured hull of a German Sd.Kfz. 221 armoured car. The production for the BA-64 occurred from 1942 to 1946, with a total 9,110 BA-64 Armoured Cars built by the end of the vehicle’s production run.
The STL files for the BA-64 Light Armoured Car were downloaded from MarkeBot’s Thingiverse; the BA-64 model was designed by Markopolo. I used a Creality Ender Pro 3 to print these models.
I 3D printed two Soviet BA-64 Armoured Cars and added Plastic Soldier Company components; these components include the vehicle commanders and guns. As well, I applied Soviet star decals to the sides of the turret and painted popular Russian tank slogans on the hulls.
The images below are found in the Russian Armour III section of Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site.
Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
