Referred to as the ‘coffin for seven brothers’ by the Soviet tank crews, the M3 Lee was designed as a replacement for the M2 Medium Tank (an unsuccessful tank design). Due to the start of World War 2, the M3 Lee was rushed into production with production starting in August 1941. The production run for the M3 Lee ended in December 1942, with some 6,258 M3 Lees built. Under the Lend-Lease agreement, the Soviet Union received over 1,300 M3 Lee Medium Tanks.
The STL files for the M3 Lee Medium Tank were downloaded from MarkeBot’s Thingiverse; the M3 Lee files were created by Alfa117. I used a Creality Ender Pro 3 to print this model.
I painted the M3 Lee Medium Tank as a Lend-Lease Tank supplied to the Soviet Union. As a way of identifying this tank as part of the Red Army, I applied Soviet star decals to the sides of the turret. As well, I painted common Soviet tank slogans on the sides of the hull.
