1/72 scale (20 mm) AEC Armoured Car, 12th Manitoba Dragoons

Technical Data Card: AEC Armoured Car

Manufactured by the Associate Equipment Company (AEC), a British vehicle manufacturer, the AEC Armoured Car was designed to have comparable firepower to a tank.  The first model (Mk I) of the AEC Armoured Car was armed with a QF 2-pounder gun; the same gun used for the Valentine Infantry Tank (Mk I to Mk VII).  The next model, the Mk II, was armed with a QF 6-pounder gun, while the Mk III was armed with even a more powerful QF 75 mm gun.

The STL files for the AEC Armoured Car were downloaded from MarkeBot’s Thingiverse; the AEC Armoured Car was designed by sigmazero.  I used a Creality Ender Pro 3 to print these models.

I 3D printed an AEC Armoured Car model and replaced the gun barrel with a Plastic Soldier Company gun barrel.  I painted this model with the markings of the Canadian 18th Armoured Car Regiment, the 12th Manitoba Dragoons.    The Manitoba Dragoons were a corps level troop attached to the II Canadian Corp; they were one of two Canadian armoured car regiments during the Second World War.  The other armoured car regiment was the 1st Armoured Car Regiment, the Royal Canadian Dragoons, which were attached to the I Canadian Corps.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures.  It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
