The SU-152 (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka-152) Assault Gun, named after its main armament, the 152 mm howitzer-gun M1937 (ML-20), entered service in 1943. Affectionately nicknamed the Zveroboy (‘Beast Slayer’), the SU-152 was developed out of the Red Army’s need for mobile heavy guns, made clear from the Stalingrad counteroffensive. The SU-152 combined the 152 mm howitzer-gun with the chassis of the KV-1S heavy tank.
Pegasus Hobbies produces a 1/72 scale SU-152 Assault Gun/Self-Propelled Heavy Howitzer set, containing the components for two SU-152 models. This set is cast in hard plastic and each SU-152 is made up of 32 parts.
As a way of giving the SU-152s an unique look, I painted popular World War 2 Soviet tank slogans on the sides of the vehicles. As well, I added a Russian tank driver to one of the Assault Guns; the tank driver is produced by HaT Toy Soldiers.
The images below could be found in the Russian Armour II section of Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site.
Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
