1/72 scale (20mm) German Tiger II Heavy Tank (Pegasus Hobbies)

Technical Data Card: Tiger II Heavy Tank

The Tiger II (Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B) Heavy Tank, nicknamed the Königstiger (Royal Tiger) by the Germans, entered service in 1944 and first saw action in the Battle of Normandy in June of that year.  Tiger IIs were used exclusively by Heavy Tank Battalions.  By the end of the war, some 492 Tiger IIs were produced.

Pegasus Hobbies produces a 1/72 scale hard plastic German Tiger II Heavy Tank set containing two models.  This set is part of Pegasus Hobbies’ easy build (E-Z Build) range, and each tank is comprised of 31 parts.

I built and painted the two Tiger IIs.  I added some extra components from The Plastic Soldier Company Tiger set (the tank commander and extra tank tracks) to these models.  The decals I applied to these Tiger IIs are from Italeri’s ‘Fast Assembly’ Panther and Panzer IV model kits.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 Scale World War 2 Model Site

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures.  It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
