The Krupp Protze was a German utility truck/artillery tractor produced between 1934 to 1941. Considered an advanced design at the time of production, the Krupp Protze was converted into several variants. The Krupp Protze Kfz. 70 (Personnel Carrier Truck) was the standard personnel carrying configuration for the Krupp Protze. By the end of the vehicle’s production run, some 7,000 Krupp Protzes were built.
Caesar Miniatures produces a 1/72 scale (20 mm) plastic German Krupp Protze Kfz. 70 (Personnel Carrier Truck) kit. The sprues are cast in hard plastic and the kit includes soft plastic ‘rubber’ tires and decals.
I built and painted the Krupp Protze Kfz. 70 in the colours of a late war German vehicle. Dunkelgelb (dark yellow) became the new standard base colour for German vehicles starting in 1943. Units in field were provided with dunkelgelb paint to repaint their vehicles. Over the dunkelgelb base coat, crews would apply green and brown paints to create a camouflage pattern. The soldiers sitting in the back of the Krupp Protze are from the Plastic Soldier Company’s Sd.Kfz. 251 Half-Track model kit.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
