The SU-76M was the main production model of the SU-76 (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka 76) self-propelled gun. The SU-76 combined the ZiS-3 Divisional Field Gun with a modified T-70 light tank chassis (the T-70 chassis was extended along the length and width, added an extra road wheel per side). The SU-76 served three main roles on the battlefield: A mobile anti-tank gun, a light assault gun and a mobile gun for indirect fire. The production run for the SU-76 occurred from 1942 to 1945, with 14,292 SU-76s and SU-76Ms produced (13,732 SU-76Ms were built), making it the second most produced Soviet armoured fighting vehicle during the war, after the T-34 medium tank (84,070 T-34s and T-34 variants were built during the war).
The Plastic Soldier Company produces a 1/72 scale (20 mm) hard plastic SU-72 Self-Propelled Gun set, which includes the components for three SU-76s. This kit includes extra components for customizing the self-propelled guns and allows you to build both the early and later versions of the SU-76.
I built and painted the three SU-76s, using the extra components in the model kit to give each self-propelled gun a unique look. I applied Italeri 1/72 scale decals to the models.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
