Developed from the British Vickers 6-Ton (Mark E) light tank, the T-26 first entered service in 1931. At that time, the T-26 was one of the most successful tank designs. The first version of the T-26 produced had twin turrets, with each turret supporting a single DT 7.62 mm machine gun. In 1933, the single turret version of the T-26 was produced; this version was armed with a 45 mm tank gun. When production ceased in 1941, more than 11,000 T-26 and T-26 variants were produced.
Pegasus Hobbies produces a 1/72 scale hard plastic Soviet T-26 Light Tank kit containing two models. This set is part of Pegasus Hobbies’ easy build (E-Z Build) range, and each tank comprises of 14 parts.
I built and painted two T-26 Light Tanks. I painted popular Russian wartime tank slogans on the turret of one of the tanks and applied World War 2 Russian tank decals to the other tank. The decals are from Italeri’s ‘Fast Assembly’ 1/72 scale T-34/85 model kit.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
