Built upon the T-34 chassis, the SU-122 (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka 122 mm) Assault Gun is named after its main armament, the 22mm M-30S howitzer. The inspiration for designing the SU-122 came from the Red Army’s first encounter with the German Sturmgeschütz (StuG III); an assault gun built on the Panzer III chassis.
Pegasus Hobbies produces an ‘E-Z build’ 1/72 scale (20mm) SU-122 Assault Gun kit, which allows you to build two models.

HaT Toy Soldiers produces a set of WW2 Russian Tank Riders. The set includes four sprues of 11 miniatures (44 miniatures in total).

As a way of giving each SU-122 an unique look, I added the HaT tank riders to these models (the SU-122 vehicle commanders are also from the HaT kit). As well, I painted popular Russian tank slogans on the sides of the SU-122s. Translations of the Russian slogans are listed in brackets below each profile photo.
