As the war progressed, the German military faced overwhelming numbers of Allied tanks. The German factories could not produce enough tanks to counter this threat. Thus, the production of turretless self-propelled guns became a popular option, as self-propelled guns could be produced at a faster rate than tanks. The Jagdpanzer IV was a self-propelled gun, designed specifically as a tank destroyer, that mounted the powerful 75 mm PaK 42 anti-tank gun on the chassis of the Panzer IV Ausf. H tank. The production run for the Jagdpanzer IV started in December 1943; when production ceased in April 1945, approximately 2,000 Jagdpanzer IVs were built.
The SDL files for the Jagdpanzer IV Tank Destroyers were downloaded from MarkeBot’s Thingiverse and were created by m_bergman. I used a Creality Ender Pro 3 to print Jagdpanzer IV.
I 3d printed three Jagdpanzer IV Tank Destroyers and painted the models in a common late war German vehicle camouflage pattern. I applied decals to the sides of the Jagdpanzers to identify each tank destroyer’s position in the battalion. The first digit (‘1’) identifies the company, the middle digit (‘2’) identifies the platoon and the last digit identifies the vehicle’s position in the platoon. Thus, the Jagdpanzers are the 1st (platoon command vehicle), 2nd and 3rd tank destroyer in the 1st Company’s 2nd Platoon.

Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
