The legendary German Tiger I (Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E) heavy tank struck fear into the hearts of Allied Tank crews. Allied tank rounds would bounce off the Tiger’s thick armour, while its powerful 88 mm gun could penetrate the amour of a Sherman tank at long range. The Plastic Soldier Company produces a 1/72 scale Tiger I kit, which allows you to build three Tiger I tanks.
I built and painted three Tiger I tanks and applied decals to the models. The decals are from Italeri’s ‘fast assembly’ Panther set. The numbers on the sides of the turrets represent the company (first digit), the platoon (middle digit) and the vehicle number (last digit) of the tank. All three Tigers belong to the 3rd Company, 1st Platoon. Tiger ‘311’ is the Platoon Command tank, Tiger ‘312’ is the second tank in the platoon and Tiger ‘313’ is the third tank.

The images below will appear in the German Armour I: Tanks section (in the upcoming Tiger I gallery) of Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site.
Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War, whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
