The Sherman Firefly is an upgraded M4 Sherman tank armed with a 17-pound anti-tank gun (Ordnance Quick-Firing 17-pounder); a gun capable of penetrating the armour of the Panther and Tiger tanks. Three versions of the M4 Sherman are used to create the Firefly: the Sherman I (M4), the Sherman I Hybrid (M4 Composite) and the Sherman V (M4A4). The Sherman I version of the Firefly is named the Sherman IC Firefly (with C standing for the 17-pound gun), the Sherman I Hybrid version is named the Firefly IC Hybrid and the Sherman V version is named the Sherman VC Firefly.
The Plastic Soldier Company produces a 1/72 scale (20mm) Allied Sherman M4A4 and Firefly Tank kit, which allows you to build either the Sherman M4A4 (named the Sherman V in the U.K. and Commonwealth) or the Sherman VC Firefly. This kit allows you to build three tanks.

I built the three tanks as Sherman VC Firefly tanks and painted the tanks with the marking of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division (The Governor General’s Foot Guards and The British Columbian Regiment). As well, I added resin tank stowage components, produced by Value Gear, to the Firefly tanks.

The images below will appear in the Canadian Armour section (in the Sherman VC Firefly gallery) of Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site, a WW2 model/miniature website I am working on.
Citizen Soldiers: A 1/72 scale World War 2 Model Site is devoted to the hobby of painting and collecting World War 2 models/miniatures. It is my hope, through creating this website, to honour the men and women who served in the Second World War; whose sacrifices and courage have given us the freedom and quality of life we have today.
