Warhammer 40,000 Traitor Guardsmen: Part 2

Once loyal servants of the God-Emperor, Traitor Guardsmen are Imperial Guardsmen, who have fallen to the lure of Chaos. Heretics in the truest sense, Traitor Guardsmen serve the Dark Chaos Gods, bringing their knowledge of Imperial doctrine, training and expertise to the mass ranks of Chaos.

I finished ‘kit bashing’ five Traitor Guardsmen, using components from a variety of manufacturers.  The bodies and weapons are from the Cadian Shock Troopers kit and the heads are from Wargames Factory’s Shock Troopers kit (this kit is no longer in production).  As well, to represent the heretical artifacts and personal items Chaos Guardsmen would carry on them, components from Games Workshop’s Flagellants kit and the Frostgrave Cultists kit were used.

Warhammer 40K Whiteshields (Astra Militarum/Imperial Guard): Part 3

Whiteshields, also known as Conscript Platoons, are Imperial Guard units consisting of either normal Imperial citizens, with little or no military training, conscripted into service, or newly recruited Imperial Guardsmen/women, who have not yet received their formal training. Whiteshield units are typically formed out of necessity, when fresh bodies are needed for the battlefield. Unlike the standard Imperial Guardsman/woman, Whiteshields do not wear regimental insignias or heraldry; instead, they have a simple white stripe painted on their helmets to identify their position within the regiment.

I finished painting five more Imperial Guard Whiteshields using miniatures from the Cadian quick build (snap fit) kit.  While I painted the previous groups of Whiteshields in urban and jungle camouflage patterns (please see part 1 and part 2 for more details), I choose to paint this group of miniatures in an industrial-environmental pattern; a similar pattern I used for the Death Korps of Krieg miniatures.

Using the Cadian quick build kit, I built and painted five more Whiteshield soldiers.  While I painted the previous group of Whiteshields in an urban camouflage pattern (please see part 1 for more details), I painted this group of Whiteshields in a jungle camouflage pattern.  To distinguish these miniatures from the standard guardsman, I painted a solid white stripe on the helmets: the distinguishing mark of a Whiteshield.
