Ork Boyz: Part 1 (Warhammer 40,000)

Ork Boyz box set

I recently picked up a box of Ork Boyz from Imperial Hobbies, my Friendly Local Gaming Store.  The box set allows you to build an Ork Nob (a larger ork) and 10 Ork Boyz, with options available for adding a Rokkit Launcha (an ork rocket launcher) and a Big Shoota (an ork heavy machine gun).  The Ork Boyz set costs $35 Canadian; a great price for a Games Workshop product, especially considering the number of options included with this kit.

Ork Boyz sprue: The Ork Boyz sprue was designed in 2007.  The box set includes two identical Ork Boyz sprues and an Ork Boyz Command sprue.  The Ork Boyz sprue contains the following bitz: five upper bodies; five legs; five heads; five sets of arms wielding shootas (ork bolters); five sets of arms carrying sluggas (pistols) and choppas (hand weapons); plus a few extra bitz (shoulder armour, ammo magazine, etc.).  The Ork Boyz sprue allows you to build five Ork Boyz with shootas or five Ork Boyz with sluggas and choppas (or five Orks with a combination of shootas, sluggas and choppas).  As well, the Command sprue provides additional options for customizing the Ork Boyz.

Ork Boyz Command sprue: The Command sprue includes the bitz needed to build the Ork Nob, the rokkit launcha and the big shoota.  The legs, body and arms of the Nob are bigger than the regular boyz; therefore, there are specific bitz for the Nob.  There is a single Nob right arm holding a Kustom Shoota; two Nob left arms, one with a Big Choppa and the other with a Power Klaw; five heads; two banners; pieces of armour, war trophies and gear. All of the components necessary for building the big shoota and rokkit launcha are included, including two upper bodies with slots designed to fit the heavy weapon backpacks.  As well, options for hand grenades, mines and ammo pouches are included to add further options for customizing the Ork Boyz.

Space Ork Transfer Sheet: A ‘Space Ork’ transfer sheet is included in the box set.  The transfer sheet was designed in 2000, and includes ork symbols, weapon markings and unit badges.

Assembly Instructions: An easy to follow set of illustrations showing options for assembling the miniatures is included with this set.
