Warhammer 40K Traitor Guardsmen

Once loyal servants of the God-Emperor, Traitor Guardsmen are Imperial Guardsmen, who have fallen to the lure of Chaos. Heretics in the truest sense, Traitor Guardsmen serve the Dark Chaos Gods, bringing their knowledge of Imperial doctrine, training and expertise to the mass ranks of Chaos.

I built the five Traitor Guardsmen shown in this post with a Forge World conversion kit containing the head/torso of Chaos Guardsmen and the Cadian Shock Trooper sprue.  I envisioned these heretics coming from a desert world and selected a colour scheme to match the natural environment of their home world.  I used two different styles of desert camouflage: one style for the combat fatigues and the other for the chest and shoulder armour.

The below images are some of the images from the Traitor Guardsmen section in the Old Guard:

Warhammer 40K Chaos Beastmen: Part 1

Many beastmen are drawn to the lure of Chaos, seeking both power and acceptance from the Dark Gods. Beastmen are taller and stronger than the average non-augmented human; their fierce and brutal nature makes them natural warriors. Beastmen fill the mass ranks of the Chaos armies, serving as shock troopers and scouts.

In an earlier post, I ‘kit-bashed’ some rank-and-file soldiers of Chaos, which included four Son’s of Sek troopers (from Dan Abnett’s Gaunt’s Ghost series) and five Chaos Beastmen (again, inspired by the Gaunt’s Ghost series).  Since that post, I have finished painting the Beastmen and have created a Chaos Beastmen section in the Old Guard.

The Chaos Beastmen were converted using the Age of Sigmar Gors sprue, the Catachan Jungle Fighter sprue and the Cadian Shock Trooper sprue.

Warhammer 40K Cadian Kasrkin: Part 1

The Kasrkin are the elite soldiers from the Fortress World of Cadia. Like other Tempestus Scion (Storm Trooper) units, Kasrkin are armed and outfitted with better weapons and gear than the standard Imperial Guardsman. Carapace Armour and Hot-Shot Lasguns are standard issue, with power swords commonly issued to Kasrkin Sergeants.

I finished painting a five-person Kasrkin squad, using miniatures from the metal Cadian Kasrkin miniatures range first introduced in the early 2000s.  For these miniatures I selected a four-colour woodlands camouflage pattern similar to the style of woodlands camouflage used by the U.S. Army in the 1980s (and used until the adoption of the Universal Camouflage Pattern in 2004).

Please visit the Kasrkin section of the Old Guard for more images of the miniatures shown in this post.

In the next post in this series (part 2), I will paint five more Kasrkin in an alternative camouflage pattern.
