Mutant Crawl Classics: Pathways to the Ancient Ones

Pathways to the Ancient Ones: A Muntant Crawl Classics Fan Site

Back in 2017, I created Artifacts of the Ancients Ones, an RPG fan site dedicated Jim Wampler’s Mutant Crawl Classics role-playing system (published by Goodman Games).  The process of designing Artifacts of the Ancients Ones was a great learning process as it allowed me to develop my coding, Photoshop (graphics), photography, and miniature painting skills.  Artifacts of the Ancients Ones features character generators for the seven core Mutant Crawl Classics (MCC) character classes, and a zero-level character generator for the MCC Character Funnel (which takes place at the start of a new campaign).  Over the years, as my coding skills improved, I created new iterations of the character generators.  I decided to launch a new iteration of the MCC fan site: Pathways to the Ancient Ones.  While Artifacts of the Ancients Ones features miniatures I painted and photographed, Pathways to the Ancient Ones digital artwork I drew.

MCC Zero-Level Character Generator.  One of the defining features of Goodman Games’ Dungeon Crawl Classic series of role-playing games are the Character Funnels.  In the Character Funnels, Players create several zero-level characters (i.e., 4 zero-level characters per Player).  By the end of the funnel, most of the zero-level characters will perish.  Typically, a Player will have one of their zero-level characters survive, who will become the Player’s character in the upcoming adventures.

MCC Zero-Level Character Sheets (4-sheets)

Zero-Level Character Sheets.  The character sheets were designed in Photoshop using a drawing tablet and pen.  My goal in designing the character sheets was to create a hand-drawn ‘old school’ look for the character sheets, akin to the sketches one might find in the margins of character sheets and game books from years gone by.

Warhammer 40,000 Manticore Rocket Launcher (Astra Militarum)

Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) Manticore Self-Propelled Rocket Launcher

Designed to fire a barrage of long-range incendiary rockets, the Manticore Rocket Launcher is the self-propelled rocket artillery of the Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard).  The Manticore, like many other Imperial Guard weapon platforms, is build upon the Chimera infantry fighting vehicle chassis.

Stage 1: Assembled Model

I finished building and painting Imperial Guard (Astra Militrum) Manticore Self-Propelled Rocket Launcher, which utilizes the chassis of the Chimera Infantry Fighting Vehicle.  Manticore/Deathstrike kit includes options for building either the Manticore Rocket Launcher or the Deathstrike Mobile Ballistic Missile Launcher.  I selected the options to build the Manticore Rocket Launcher (with a hull mounted heavy flamer) and painted the self-propelled gun in a tri-colour desert camouflage pattern.
