Basic Fantasy RPG Character Sheets

 

 

 

Back in 2018, I created a fan site dedicated to Chris Gonnerman’s Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game, titled Dark Dungeons and Endless Adventures.  The fan site features random character generators, allowing for Games Masters and Players to quickly generate characters on ‘the fly’.  I am in the process of designed new iterations of the character generators, featuring more options for the customization of the randomly generated character.  One of these new features are a redesigned of the character sheets.  The new characters sheets are available in PDF format on the Character Sheet section of the website.

Character Sheets.  When designing the character sheets, I wanted to capture the ‘old school’ feel of the early years (1970s) of the RPG hobby.  Thus, I choose to go with a ‘hand drawn’ look for the character sheet and used a digital pen and a drawing tablet to create the various elements found in the character sheets.

The Empire and the Elephant. The Empire and the Elephant is an RPG fan site dedicated to Goodman Games’ Dungeon Crawl Classics Empire of the East adventure supplement and is designed to provide Judges and Players with resources for their DCC campaigns.  The Empire of the East is a series of pulp sword and sorcery novels written by Fred Saberhagen, set in a post-apocalypse world where magic and demons exist.  Mr. Saberhagen’s Empire of the East is listed in Appendix N as one of the sources of inspiration that inspired the creation of the World’s Most Famous role-playing game.

The Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) Empire of the East Wizard Character Generator has launched and is available on The Empire and the Elephant, a DCC Empire of the East fan site.  The Wizard Character Generator provides options for customizing the randomly generated character, which includes the ability to generate above average ability scores with alternative die rolling methods (i.e., roll 5d6, and keep the three highest).
