Warhammer 40K Mordian Iron Guard

The Mordian Iron Guard hail from the hive world of Mordian; an overcrowded hive world characterized by a grim and dour population. Thus, the guardsmen and guardswomen drawn from this world embody this grim outlook, which has been forged into the discipline and determination the Modian Iron Guard regiments are renown for. Superbly drilled and highly disciplined, the Mordian Iron Guard often serve as line infantry, standing in perfectly formed ranks, unleashing disciplined volleys of lasgun fire against their foes.

After taking a short hiatus from painting miniatures, I decided to paint a squad of Mordian Iron Guard, which includes a sergeant and nine guardsmen with lasguns.  Inspired by the sharp red uniforms worn by the British army during the Napoleonic Wars, I choose to paint these miniatures with red jackets, contrasted with yellow lace.  Black pants (in contrast to the white or grey pants worn by the British soldiers) were used to capture the grim and dour nature of these troops.

For more images of these miniatures, please visit the Mordian Iron Guard section of the Old Guard; a website dedicated to Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K miniatures, with a focus on the classic range of Imperial Guard models from the 1990s.
