Warhammer 40,000 Chaos Cultists (kit bashing)

The bulk of the Chaos hordes are made up of heretical and weak-willed humans, seduced by the corrupting influences of Chaos. These heretics are known as Chaos Cultists and serve as expendable troopers in the armies of the Dark Gods. While the average cultist lacks the skill, training and expertise of the rank-and-file Imperial Guardsman, Chaos Cultists make up for this by their vast numbers, fanaticism and brutality.

I did some ‘kit bashing’ to build the five chaos cultists shown in this post.  The bodies of these miniatures are from North Star Figures’ Frostgrave Cultist set.  Components from the Wargames Factory Shock Troopers, Catachan Jungle Fighters, Cadian Shock Troopers, Chaos Marauders and Empire Flagellant sets were used.  As well, the boltgun and one of the grenade launchers came from the metal Adeptus Arbites range.

Warhammer 40K Mordian Iron Guard

The Mordian Iron Guard hail from the hive world of Mordian; an overcrowded hive world characterized by a grim and dour population. Thus, the guardsmen and guardswomen drawn from this world embody this grim outlook, which has been forged into the discipline and determination the Modian Iron Guard regiments are renown for. Superbly drilled and highly disciplined, the Mordian Iron Guard often serve as line infantry, standing in perfectly formed ranks, unleashing disciplined volleys of lasgun fire against their foes.

After taking a short hiatus from painting miniatures, I decided to paint a squad of Mordian Iron Guard, which includes a sergeant and nine guardsmen with lasguns.  Inspired by the sharp red uniforms worn by the British army during the Napoleonic Wars, I choose to paint these miniatures with red jackets, contrasted with yellow lace.  Black pants (in contrast to the white or grey pants worn by the British soldiers) were used to capture the grim and dour nature of these troops.

Dungeon Crawl Classics Muir Forest Adventures Maps

My next Dungeon Crawl Classics third-party compatible adventure is titled ‘Muir Forest Adventures’, which builds upon the setting established in Fantastic Adventures and the Disgruntled Gong Farmer.  Since ‘Muir Forest Adventures’ takes place in the Village of Greenleaf and the surrounding lands (The Villages of the Muir Forest), revised maps of the Village of Greenleaf and the Villages of the Muir Forest have been created.

The Villages of the Muir Forest Map.  The Villages of the Muir Forest is a network of villages located inside the Muir Forest, existing in a small isolated pocket of the world.  As contact with the world outside of the Muir Forest is rare, most living inside the Muir Forest are unaware of the vast world that exists outside the boundaries of forest.  In fact, most villagers believe that the world is flat, and the boundaries of the world ends a hundred or so miles outside of the forest.  As the old saying goes: “If you travel too far you are going to fall off the edge of the world.”

Village of Greenleaf Map.  The village of Greenleaf is the setting for ‘Kobolds Stole My Cat!’ and the launching point for ‘The Gong Farmer’s Revenge’; the second and third adventure in ‘Fantastic Adventures and the Disgruntled Gong Farmer’.  The mini-adventures and events in part 1 of ‘Muir Forest Adventures’ will take place in the Village of Greenleaf.

Muir Forest Adventures logo.  As with ‘Fantastic Adventures and the Disgruntled Gong Farmer’, I created a logo for ‘Muir Forest Adventures’.  The maple leaf in the centre of the shield symbolizes my Canadian heritage.

Fantastic Adventures and the Disgruntled Gong Farmer has been updated to include the new maps of the Village of Greenleaf and the Villages of the Muir Forest.
